the best bet is to take metro. and because there is no parking, the streets are pretty much blocked off. you don't know where to expect the barricades. there is one here at seventh. you can't see it from here because of traffic. d.c. national guard is over there. they have their humvees off blocking seventh street right at the corner of h. now, metro's fill start time today was 4:00 a.m. but they got a late start at the gallery place stop. people were lined up to get to the trains but the barricade at the top of the escalators not removed until 4:13ish. to help you plan your day, metro's hours are from 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. peak fares from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. parking rates are the normal weekday rates and to prevent congestion at suburban parking lots, parking fees will be charged when exiting. now, three of the metro stations are going to be closed during the inauguration festivities. those are archives, mount vernon square and smithsonian. so plan your day accordingly. forget about trying to get off at archiv
